Our Policy Platform

Every issue on this platform connects back to one core belief: Kent County deserves the same investment, ambition, and respect as every other part of Delaware. Strong communities are built on good jobs, safe housing, quality schools, accessible healthcare, and the freedom to build a life where you grew up. We can have all of that here — if we have the courage to fight for it.

A Kent County That Leads

Kent County is missing something other parts of Delaware take for granted: community infrastructure. The accessible, central spaces where neighbors build skills, find leaders, launch businesses, and connect across the differences that usually divide us. Tyeisha has spent her career building People Power across the state. It's time to build it here at home.

We are also watching families lose homes that have been in their families for generations — inherited houses taken away because of skyrocketing property taxes and water bills they can't pay. That is the destruction of generational wealth, and it has to stop.

I will fight to:

  • Bring a real community development model to Kent County. Inspired by what works in Wilmington — like REACH Riverside and The Warehouse — Kent deserves a central hub in Dover that brings leadership development, workforce training, youth programming, and small business support together under one roof. Accessible. Walkable. Open to everyone. A place like the Duncan Center could anchor it.

  • Push for state investment in major Kent County community development projects — mixed-use development, downtown revitalization, and transit-connected growth that creates jobs and housing in the same place

  • Build walkable, connected neighborhoods so people can live, work, shop, and gather without needing a car for every errand

  • Expand affordable and workforce housing across Kent so young people, working families, and seniors can all afford to stay

  • Create real economic pathways for Kent County young people — apprenticeships, career and technical education, small business support — so they don't have to leave the county to build a future

Public Schools That Work for Every Student

As a member of the Governor's Educational Equity Council, Tyeisha is already fighting for a public education system that serves every child, in every zip code.

I will fight to:

  • Modernize Delaware's broken school funding formula so funding follows student need, not property values

  • Fully fund universal pre-K

  • Guarantee competitive pay for teachers, paraprofessionals, and support staff

  • Free school meals for every student in Delaware — no child should learn on an empty stomach

Honoring Our Veterans

Tyeisha served as a combat medic in the U.S. Army. She knows from her own life what it takes to come home and navigate systems that don't always meet veterans where they are — especially around mental health and PTSD.

I will fight to:

  • Expand mental health and PTSD treatment for Delaware veterans, including peer support, trauma-informed care, and outreach to those who never enter the system

  • Strengthen Delaware's services for homeless and housing-insecure veterans

  • Improve coordination between state, federal (VA), and community veteran service organizations so veterans don't fall through the cracks

  • Support veteran-owned small businesses, especially in Kent County

  • Expand career, education, and transition pathways for service members coming home and their families

  • Address the distinct needs of women veterans and veterans of color

Healthcare as a Human Right

I will fight to:

  • Move toward a state-wide public health insurance option that covers every Delawarean

  • Lower prescription drug costs through direct price negotiation and rate-setting

  • Confront Delaware's maternal and infant mortality crisis, with targeted investment in Black, rural, and low-income communities

  • Treat addiction and mental health as public health issues, not criminal ones

Housing People Can Afford

I will fight to:

  • Pass a Tenants' Bill of Rights with strong protections against unjust eviction and source-of-income discrimination

  • Direct public dollars toward affordable housing, not luxury development

  • Expand downpayment assistance and rent-to-own programs so working families can become homeowners

  • Strengthen protections for manufactured home communities, which are critical to Kent County's housing stock

An Economy That Works for Working People

Tyeisha was deeply involved in Delaware's Fight for $15 campaign. She knows what it takes to win wage gains for working people — and she's not stopping at $15.

I will fight to:

  • Tie minimum wage to the cost of living so workers don't fall further behind every year

  • Strengthen unions and fight back against "right to work" laws

  • Hold corporations accountable when they receive public dollars: real community benefit, real local jobs, real accountability

  • Expand apprenticeships and workforce training, especially for Kent County youth

Working Families First

Tyeisha contributed to the Delaware Cares Coalition that won paid family and medical leave for Delaware workers. She'll keep fighting to make Delaware the best state in the country to raise a family.

I will fight to:

  • 16 weeks of paid family and medical leave for all workers Universal child care with a sliding-scale public option Eliminate school lunch debt Protect reproductive rights in the Delaware constitution

Clean Air, Clean Water, Strong Communities

Tyeisha helped pass the Climate Change Solutions Act, putting Delaware on a path to a cleaner, more resilient future. She'll keep fighting for the policies that protect Kent County's land, water, and people.

I will fight to:

  • Pass a Green Amendment guaranteeing every Delawarean the right to a clean and healthy environment

  • Invest in renewable energy and the good union jobs that come with it

  • Protect Kent's farmland, water quality, and rural character from unaccountable industrial development

  • Build climate resilience for communities facing flooding and extreme weather

A Democracy That Works

I will fight to:

  • Expand voting access — protect vote-by-mail, same-day registration, and automatic voter restoration

  • Establish civilian oversight of law enforcement with real subpoena power

  • Stand with our immigrant neighbors — keep ICE out of state and local facilities

  • Protect LGBTQIA+ Delawareans, including access to gender-affirming care
