TYEISHA GRIER"S BACKGROUND

Tyeisha "Tye" Grier is one of Delaware's most respected social justice organizers — a U.S. Army veteran, civil rights leader, and unapologetic advocate for working families.

She began her career as a combat medic in the United States Army. She served as Director of Partnerships at Network Delaware, where she trained and mentored Change Agents across the state, building the kind of grassroots People Power that wins real change.

Over the past several years, Tyeisha has been deeply involved in some of the most consequential progressive campaigns in Delaware:

  • The Delaware Cares Coalition, which won paid family and medical leave for Delaware workers

  • The Fight for $15 campaign to raise the minimum wage

  • The Climate Change Solutions Act, putting Delaware on a path to a cleaner, more resilient future

She is President of the Central Delaware NAACP and Co-Chair of the Political Action Committee for the Delaware NAACP State Conference. She was appointed to the Educational Equity Council, where she fights for a public education system that serves every child, in every zip code.

Tyeisha Co-Directed the James H. Gilliam, Sr. Fellows Program with the Metropolitan Wilmington Urban League. She is an Ella J. Baker Black Organizers Group graduate and a member of the inaugural 2024 cohort of the Rockwood Leadership Institute's Black and Latino Changemakers Fellowship.

She lives in Smyrna with her family. She is unapologetic, persistent, and not afraid to tell the truth.
