ABOUT TYEISHA GRIER
For Our Community
I never planned to run for office.
I spent most of my life avoiding politics on purpose. I didn't like what I saw, and I built my career outside of it — as an organizer, a trainer, a connector, the person who shows up to help other people lead.
Then COVID hit. For the first time in my life, I needed someone to represent me, and I couldn't find anyone. So I got pulled in — into organizing, into civic work, into the long fight to make Delaware better for working people. I told myself I'd help other leaders find their voice and then step back.
Six years later, I'm in the same position.
So maybe it's my time. Maybe Kent County needs a fire. Maybe what we need is someone willing to test the theory in real time — to prove these things can be done here, not just imagined.
I'm done waiting.
I don't believe in coincidences. I bought a house in this district. My family is here. The work that needs to happen is right outside my door. And the people I've spent years training to be the change they want to see — they're the ones telling me to be that change too.
So maybe it's my time. Maybe Kent County needs a fire. Maybe what we need is someone willing to test the theory in real time — to prove these things can be done here, not just imagined.
So here I am.
